West Queen West is the area on Queen street W., stretching from Shaw St. to Dufferin.
Until a few years back, it was a low-rent, mixed residences in the type of warehouses, apartments above stores, and homes. With the explosion of Toronto’s population followed by the real-estate boom, West Queen West has also gone through major transitional changes and is now the subject of three new developments (and possibly more coming):
West Side Lofts
Bohemian Embassy
The Bridge Condos
Local Artists and residents raised concerns over these new developments, and the City’s as well as the OMB’s handling of these projects. Search google for “queen west developments” to catch up on the latest.
In the meanwhile, a Facebook page by developer UrbanCorp seemed to stir up more debate. For my entry, click here (keep scrolling until you find it)
However, what’s really interesting to me is, that despite the noise made, the response of the Buyer and Investor community to these developments is strong, Bohemian is now under construction and prices keep climbing as demand is greater the supply, yet prices are still affordable and reasonably less expensive then King and Bathurst area.
To the artists who feel left our of the process, and are interested in understanding their options, feel free to contact me and I can tell you more about the process of buying and selling real estate. It may seem out of reach, but you’d be surprised.
To our Clients, Buyers and Investors: West Queen West represents long-term solid investment.
